How We Use User Experience to Shape Interweave

At Interweave, we’re building a product that has scalability and highly developed functionality to meet the needs of all our users. Research into User Experience (UX) is vital as we aim to remain agile to the ever-changing needs of our partners. It’s particularly key as our Interweave platform is adopted by more organisations nationally, as the outcome of our research becomes richer and more diverse and new partners bring with them unique requirements.

To build a robust UX pathway, we regularly invite all our partners to work with us and explore how the platform is currently working and how we can improve it. This provides an opportunity for our users, who use the shared care record as part of their clinical work, to speak directly to those who can make the change.

When partners are invited to our UX meetings, we tend to outline one topic at a time, providing an opportunity for the appropriate stakeholders to attend based on their interests and ensuring that conversations are meaningful, focusing on the real issues in practice.

This approach allows us to identify what’s important to our partners and avoids a reliance on assumptions. The feedback that these sessions provide helps us produce actionable goals which improve our platform in a meaningful way. The feedback we receive can be anything from changing the way something looks, to adjusting functionality or making something more accessible.

Some of the tangible benefits that have been realised through this mechanism include looking at the best way to display prescription medicine data, how we display national patient flag data and how we introduce more granular controls to allow SystmOne Non-GP units to feed through data to the portal more easily and safely.

We invite our partners to reach out for more information about Interweave’s UX journey and opportunities. Please do consider getting involved to share your views and experiences, to help shape the future of our platform.
