Gaining Feedback on User Experience in Humber & North Yorkshire
Colleagues from the NHS Humber and North Yorkshire Integrated Care Board (ICB) recently visited Grimsby and Scunthorpe Hospital sites to learn more about how shared care records are improving access to vital information. Kris Weavill and Rochelle Featherstone visited NHS Humber Health partnership’s sites, supporting the rollout of the full Yorkshire and Humber Care Record (YHCR), our regions Shared Care Record provided by Interweave.
The visits focussed on people and their experience, over and above their use of systems and screens. Clinical and support teams shared how better access to information helped them care more effectively, efficiently and have to spend less time chasing records. Whether it was for safeguarding, radiology or out-of-area medication history, the difference their access has made was clear.
One of the clinicians in the Radiology department shared, “The implementation of the Interweave system will have a substantial impact on Radiology operations. By enabling access to discharge summaries for patients seen in A&E, the system will support more informed clinical decision-making, ensuring patients have received appropriate treatment or are identified for follow-up where necessary.”
Northern Lincolnshire and Goole NHS Foundation Trust (NLAG) already sees over 52,000 monthly touchpoints via GP Connect, but with access to the full YHCR, the real transformation begins. Data is becoming easier to access, more relevant and embedded in delivering care where it’s needed.
Kris Weavill, Digital Transformation Delivery Lead at the Humber and Yorkshire ICB said, “We are grateful to all the teams we met, from frontline clinicians to digital leadership, for being so engaged and honest. We’re laying the groundwork not just for shared records, but for truly joined-up care. It was amazing to see the YHCR being used directly for patient care and gave us lots to think about. It also personally was nice to get back to the ground and remember that we are helping patients. We’ve got some clear lessons and feedback, we’re going to act on them.”
By focussing on hands-on engagement, stories from frontline staff and a clear action plan, Interweave are developing a platform based on real user experience.
