YHCR Goes Live with NHS 111 Clinical Data from Yorkshire Ambulance Service
We’re happy to announce that new integration now gives authorised health and care professionals access to NHS 111 clinical information from Yorkshire Ambulance Service (YAS), through the Yorkshire and Humber Care Record (YHCR), powered by Interweave.
The availability of this data will help health and care professionals gain a richer understanding of a patient’s urgent care journey, reducing information gaps, supporting faster clinical decisions and helping to improve continuity of care across organisational boundaries. This marks a significant milestone in improving information sharing across the region.
Delivered collaboratively by YAS, Synanetics and the YHCR team, the project has integrated NHS 111 data from the YAS Computer Aided Dispatch (CAD) system into the Interweave architecture.
This partnership was established to enhance integrated care, ensuring that information collected during NHS 111 interactions can be securely accessed by authorised professionals involved in a patient’s care. The programme has focused on interoperability, clinical safety, information governance and user accessibility throughout its delivery.
What is the benefit of the new data?
The new data provision enables authorised users, including GPs, emergency departments, ambulance services and mental health practitioners, to securely access NHS 111 information directly through YHCR, providing a more complete view of a patient’s recent interactions with urgent care services.
Through the new service, authorised clinicians can access key information including:
- Patient demographics
- Presenting complaints and symptoms
- Clinical assessment summaries
- NHS 111 triage outcomes and dispositions
- Referrals to other services
- Advice provided to patients
- Escalations and follow-up actions.
Ian Clucas, Deputy CIO at Interweave, said: “The inclusion of NHS 111 clinical data within the Yorkshire and Humber Care Record is an important step in our mission to provide health and care professionals with the information they need, when they need it.
By making urgent care information available through the YHCR, we’re helping clinicians build a more complete picture of a patient’s needs, supporting safer, more coordinated and effective care across the region.”
Ola Zahran, Chief Technology Officer at Yorkshire Ambulance Service NHS Trust, said: “With enriched patient information now being available to ambulance clinicians to support assessment and treatment, this means that patients will benefit from more joined-up, safer care.”
How was the integration developed?
The integration has been designed using nationally recognised Fast Healthcare Interoperability Resources (FHIR) standards and operates within robust NHS information governance frameworks, ensuring secure access, role-based permissions and comprehensive audit controls.
Looking ahead
The successful go-live reflects the continued commitment of the partnership to improve data sharing and enable joined-up care for citizens across Yorkshire and the Humber.
As the YHCR continues to expand the range of information available through its shared care record, the addition of NHS 111 clinical data represents a major advancement in providing healthcare professionals with timely access to critical information that supports positive patient outcomes.
