Sheffield City Council Becomes First Local Authority in South Yorkshire to Add Data to YHCR

Sheffield City Council has become the first local authority in South Yorkshire to add their data into the Yorkshire and Humber Care Record (YHCR).

In a notable first for the South Yorkshire Shared Care Record (SYSCR) Programme, the Council has linked up its social care services and assessment data into the shared care record platform.

Programme leads are looking to follow this important precedent by working with other local authorities in the region in order to enable them to feed in their data.

Dawn Bassinder, Chief Social Work Officer at Sheffield City Council, said: “Adult Care and Wellbeing have found having access to the Yorkshire and Humber Care Record (YHCR) an invaluable tool in our objectives to meet people’s care and support needs and protect people from abuse or neglect.

“Across all our statutory responsibilities, partnership working and sharing information is vital so our staff can make the right decisions at the right time to meet the outcomes of the people in Sheffield we support. The YHCR has played a key role since its implementation to meet these aims. We’re further reassured moving forward that in sharing our data with trusted partners we can work together better as a wider collaborative sector for the benefit of the people whose needs we meet in Sheffield.”

Katie Dowson, SYSCR programme director, said: “The more information that health and care professionals have about an individual, the better care and support they can provide. This will result in not only improvements in the quality of care but will also help save time for busy professionals in seeking out the information they need.

“Each month, more and more data is being made available in the Yorkshire and Humber Care Record and more staff are logging in to realise the benefits. We would like to thank all those at Sheffield City Council who have worked with our programme team to make this possible. It is an important milestone in establishing an ever-more comprehensive shared care record platform.”
