Medical Equipment Supplier Added in South Yorkshire
The Yorkshire and Humber Care Record (YHCR) is bringing together people’s health and care records from across the NHS and social care – and now its latest development in South Yorkshire will link up a local wheelchair and orthotics provider for the benefit of local people.
Blatchford makes prosthetic legs, knees and ankles and orthotic devices to support people’s mobility, with a manufacturing base in Sheffield. Its Rotherham Wheelchair Service has a team of specialist clinicians including an occupational therapist and senior rehabilitation engineer to help provide mobility support aids.
The ability of Blatchford to link in with the YHCR will help provide a more effective and seamless service in gaining access to wheelchairs and other mobility support for people in the region.
The YHCR provides health and care professionals directly involved in an individual’s care a more complete view of the care and treatment that an individual has received across all services. The shared care record platform securely connects information from hospitals, GPs, mental health services and social care providers, ensuring professionals have the most up-to-date information when they need it.
The YHCR is being rolled out via the South Yorkshire Shared Care Record (SYSCR) Programme, part of the national Connecting Care Records initiative. The programme is linking up GP practices and NHS organisations, local authorities, and voluntary and community sector organisations including service providers and hospices in South Yorkshire, across the Barnsley, Doncaster, Rotherham and Sheffield areas.
